What is a triple agent?

A triple agent is a spy who pretends to work for one intelligence agency, but has actually been recruited by another intelligence agency as a double agent and then switches sides again and pretends to be loyal to the original agency. This means that they are essentially working as a spy for three different entities: the agency they were originally working for, the agency they were recruited by, and the agency they are pretending to be loyal to.

Triple agents are rare and difficult to manage because they are playing a complicated game of deception with each organization they are affiliated with. These agents often have deep cover stories and are trained in deception and manipulation. They may be recruited for different reasons, including ideological beliefs, monetary gain, or coercion.

Triple agents are extremely useful and valuable to the intelligence agencies because they provide access to multiple sides of a conflict or operation. However, they are also a significant risk as their loyalties are always in question, and they may have access to sensitive information from multiple agencies. If a triple agent is discovered, it can have dire consequences for all involved parties.
